Being Thankful

Nov. 2, 2011

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I would like to Thank all my dedicated parents that I am so blessed to have as part of the Magnolia Heights Family.
Penny Franklin, aka Mrs. Manners, has done an amazing job working with our 6th grade classes.  They have learned the proper way to set a table, table manners, and names of many different table utensils.  So, if your 6th grader comes home asking you about a strawberry fork, you will know it came from Mrs. Manners.
A big thank you to Mrs. Jennifer Williams and the Physics class for the science experiments they have shared with the 6th grade……..great job guys!   Mrs. Ami Alexander is doing a fabulous job with our new 3K-5K science lab.  The Kindergarten students are having a blast with hands-on science experiments.
We have wrapped-up our Pee Wee Football season and are on to basketball.  I am very proud of our 5th and 6th grade football players and cheerleaders.  We had a successful season thanks to the dedicated and hard working moms and dads.  I appreciate the time and energy of our cheer sponsors:   Lorre Barrett, Rosy Howard, and Mindy Faulkner and our coaches:  Mark Lipscomb, Brian Braswell, Colie Sanford, Walt McKellar, and McGhee Taylor.  Whether it be manners, science, football, or cheer, we are extremely fortunate to have fabulous parents to jump-in and help. I appreciate you all!
I am looking forward to Monday, Nov. 7………….Grandparent’s Day.   This is one of my favorite days of the year.  I hope all grandparents and special friends can be here.
1st– 4th grades have started preparing for “Christmas Around the World” that will be coming in December along with our traditional Christmas Breakfast in honor of Jesus’ Birthday for 5th and 6th grade.

God bless,

I am thrilled and excited about the wonderful start we have had to our school year!  It was nice to see everyone Monday night at Open House.  A “Big Thanks” to our devoted hard working Parent’s Club for the pizza we gladly gobbled-up.  Please remember to support our Parent’s Club fundraiser Charleston Wrap.  Not only is it really cute gift wrap, but also many neat gift ideas.  The IPads that were purchased by the Parent’s Club in the spring were enjoyed by our elementary students this week, and our 4th-6th graders are loving the basketball goals, basketballs, and kickballs.  The Parent’s Club is a vital part of our school family and I appreciate all their hard work and dedication to make Magnolia Heights the best it can be.
I hope everyone is up and running with ParentsWeb.  The more I learn about this new system, the more I like it.  It is much more informative than what we have had in the past, and will be a better communication tool.  If you need any help with ParentsWeb, please call the school office.
I am extremely proud of our Pee Wee Football Teams and Cheerleaders.  Both 5th and 6th grade won over Marshall Academy Tuesday night.  The Pee Wee cheerleaders did a great job cheering the boys on to victory.  Way to go Chiefs!
Wishing you and your family an enjoyable Labor Day Holiday.
