Being Thankful

Nov. 2, 2011

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I would like to Thank all my dedicated parents that I am so blessed to have as part of the Magnolia Heights Family.
Penny Franklin, aka Mrs. Manners, has done an amazing job working with our 6th grade classes.  They have learned the proper way to set a table, table manners, and names of many different table utensils.  So, if your 6th grader comes home asking you about a strawberry fork, you will know it came from Mrs. Manners.
A big thank you to Mrs. Jennifer Williams and the Physics class for the science experiments they have shared with the 6th grade……..great job guys!   Mrs. Ami Alexander is doing a fabulous job with our new 3K-5K science lab.  The Kindergarten students are having a blast with hands-on science experiments.
We have wrapped-up our Pee Wee Football season and are on to basketball.  I am very proud of our 5th and 6th grade football players and cheerleaders.  We had a successful season thanks to the dedicated and hard working moms and dads.  I appreciate the time and energy of our cheer sponsors:   Lorre Barrett, Rosy Howard, and Mindy Faulkner and our coaches:  Mark Lipscomb, Brian Braswell, Colie Sanford, Walt McKellar, and McGhee Taylor.  Whether it be manners, science, football, or cheer, we are extremely fortunate to have fabulous parents to jump-in and help. I appreciate you all!
I am looking forward to Monday, Nov. 7………….Grandparent’s Day.   This is one of my favorite days of the year.  I hope all grandparents and special friends can be here.
1st– 4th grades have started preparing for “Christmas Around the World” that will be coming in December along with our traditional Christmas Breakfast in honor of Jesus’ Birthday for 5th and 6th grade.

God bless,
Allyson Mitchell
